Damian has always been driven by curiosity and a passion for understanding how things work. From a young age, he enjoyed dismantling toys to explore their inner workings — much to the dismay of his parents, who often wondered if they’d ever see an intact toy again.
His journey into the digital world began with his first computer, received
at the end of primary school. This sparked his interest in building websites
and overclocking hardware. Damian’s teenage years saw him dive into PHP,
starting with hosting and experimenting with forum scripts like phpBB, sometimes breaking more than he fixed — but that’s how you learn, right?
Professionally, Damian has built a reputation as a skilled software engineer
and a natural problem solver. He works as a Senior Software Engineer at FYUL, where he focuses on software architecture, legacy refactoring, and
modular monolith patterns. His approach to technology is not just about
writing code but understanding the broader context of business processes —
and then finding the cleanest way to untangle them.
As a workshop facilitator, he has delivered his full-day “Refactoring Towards Clean Architecture” workshop at four international events, including SymfonyCon Amsterdam 2025, SymfonyOnline 2026, and SymfonyLive Berlin 2026 — consistently earning participant ratings above 4.5/5. Prior to that, he spent several years speaking at Polish PHP conferences including PHPCon, PHPers Summit, and
4developers. He gave his first conference talk at Boiling Frogs 2026 and was subsequently invited as a guest on the Better Software Design podcast hosted by Mariusz Gil. He aims to inspire and educate others in the tech community, often with a good dose of humor to keep things lively.
Outside of his professional life, Damian is a devoted father and husband based
in Pomerania, Poland. He is an avid cyclist and runs RowerowyDziad — a YouTube channel and social media dedicated to cycling. The toys are still in one piece. The bikes, occasionally, are not.
